About Nature’s North

About the Gallery.

Nature’s North Wildlife Gallery is much more than just a specimen gallery. You will take part in an artistic experience with many of the animals who call the Northwest Territories home.

Two world renowned taxidermist and artist brothers, Greg and Dean Robertson, have come together to create a northern wildlife experience like no other. Each animal is displayed uniquely to try and capture a moment in the animal’s natural life.  Many displays will tell you a story, bring out an emotion, capture a moment in time, show their playful side, or just leave you in awe of their natural beauty.

Prepare to get up close and personal and experience the North’s creatures like you never have before. We will leave you with knowledge about northern animals in their natural habitat and memories you can share with family and friends.

Conservation

At Nature’s North Wildlife Gallery, we take conservation seriously.

None of the animals in the gallery were purposely harvested for the gallery.  Most were sustainably harvested by Indigenous hunters and trappers to provide food for many northern communities. The hides/pelts were then sold to the taxidermists, providing extra income for many northern families.

The rest of the animals died from natural causes or were donated by the Government of the Northwest Territories to the artists.

About
Taxidermy

Taxidermy elevated, artistry redefined.

Taxidermy has traditionally been a skill used to preserve a specimen for collections in museums and private homes.  The specimens were either displayed in a rigid standing pose, as a head mount on the wall, or as a rug mount on the floor.  Taxidermy has evolved to more of an art form in an effort to make the specimen more alive looking and posed more naturally.  The artists at Nature’s North Wildlife Gallery have taken it to the next level to give you an awesome experience with northern animals.
